100 Days In Office: Mrs. Akeredolu Flags Off Presentation Of Cash Gifts To 60 Senior Citizens …To Replicate Gesture Across 18 LGAs
As part of activities marking the 100 days in office of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the wife of the Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu today flagged off feeding of the elderly with the presentation of cash gifts to beneficiaries from the Central Senatorial district of the state.
Addressing no fewer than 60 elderly men and women at the Government House ground, Alagbaka, Akure, venue of the flag off,, Mrs. Akeredolu said Governor Akeredolu no doubt recognizes the contributions of the elderly to nation building and has made it a top priority of his government.
Mrs. Akeredolu who further assured them that the government has captured their needs in its scheme of things said her team recently toured the 18 local government areas of Ondo State giving out palliative items to widows who are part of the most marginalized in the society which goes to show that nobody will be forgotten by the administration of Governor Akeredolu.

While acknowledging that the government is aware of the present condition of the economy, Mrs. Akeredolu said the government is determined to keep supporting the most vulnerable groups.
“We are committed to to your welfare and all our elders across the 18 local government of Ondo State will be reached in due time with this initiative”, she further stressed.
In a lecture centred around adequate dieting, Dr. Banke Oluwafemi, the Chief Medical Director of the Mother and Child hospital, Akure, enjoined the elderly to eat lots of vegetables and fruits and not to overcook their vegetables in order to get adequate calcium, minerals and nutrients from their meals.

She also used the opportunity to urge them to check their blood sugar regularly at least four times a year, go to dentist while also living healthy lifestyles.
Earlier in her welcome address, the SSA on Research & Documentation, Mrs. Tope Daniyan said Governor Akeredolu is committed to the welfare of the elderly and as such conceptualized the programme as part of its 100 days in office.
Mrs. Daniyan while noting that the programme will be replicated across the 18 local government areas of the state further assured them the government will continue to prioritize their welfare.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Felicia Fadahunsi in her remarks applauded the Akeredolu led government for not playing politics with people’s welfare most especially when sharing dividends of democracy to the people.
The highpoint of the programme however was the official presentation of cash gifts to the beneficiaries. The event also featured free medical check-ups.
Also in attendance were the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Ayeidatiwa, members of the Forum of the Wives of Ondo State Government Officials and Female Political Appointees, FOWOSO, and some top government officials.
