Town Hall Meeting: Ondo NITP Engages Critical Stakeholders in Physical Town Planning


As part of efforts to sensitize the people on the need for proper physical planning ahead of developmental strides, the Ondo State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 engaged critical stakeholders in physical town planning towards charting way forward in the physical development of the state.

At the event which provided the needed platform for stakeholders which include architects, development engineers, members of the civil societies, representatives of security agencies among others to share their thoughts, the National President, NITP, TPL Toyin Ayinde stressed that planning should precede development.

Sharing from his wealth of experience on the topic: ” Developing effective plans towards sustainability in the building environment”, TPL Ayinde explored ways to achieve remarkable results in physical planning.

In his remark, the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu ably represented by the Commissioner for Physical Planning, Hon. Fatai Olotu who said the interactive session will go a long way in educating the people on the need for proper planning, reeled out some of the giant strides of the government in terms of physical development saying such effort will not amount to much without the cooperation of the people.

“The political will of the government manifests in various developmental strides it has embarked upon but coupled with that, we need the cooperation of the people”, he added just as he urged the people to have a level of trust in the ability of government to deliver.

Earlier in her remarks, the State chairman, Ondo NITP, TLP Mariam Ologun while welcoming guests and stakeholders to the event said the town hall meeting became necessary to address physical development in the state.

TPL Ologun who used the opportunity to restate the importance of prioritizing physical planning and getting approvals before embarking on major physical development, called for collaboration between all critical stakeholders towards achieving set goal.

In a chat with topshotnews, Dr. Ahmed Abodunrin, state commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps said the town hall is apt as it addressed the need for proper physical planning.

Dr. Abodunrin who said planning must be comprehensive, urged all professionals to abide by the rules of the game and collaborate in ensuring proper physical planning
