2024 Ondo Guber Race: Tinubu Won’t Impose Any Aspirant On Us —Senator Jimoh Ibrahim
...says “I've winning strategies for APC ticket, 2024 polls
The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial district and Governorship Aspirant, Dr Jimoh Folorunso Ibrahim has declared that the incumbent Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa will not be given an automatic ticket to contest the forthcoming 2024 election in Ondo State by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu will not impose anybody as the party’s candidate.
Speaking with newsmen at Media Parley in Akure on Monday, Dr Ibrahim said he had designed strategies on how to win the APC ticket and develop the state.
Speaking on the possibility of giving the incumbent Governor, the Billionaire Businessman said the National Leadership of the party and President Tinubu would not give anybody an automatic ticket but all aspirants in the state would face a primary election.
According to him, one of the aspirants seeking to govern the State has a questionable school certificate and wondered how such a person would be academically sound to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Ibrahim who has declared his ambition to govern under the platform of APC ahead of the November 16 governorship election, said he is the most educated among the aspirants jostling to govern the State.
The Senator said he did not have a pact with Chief Olusola Oke in the run-up to the 2023 general election for him to be elected as a senator and for him to support the Senior Advocate for the governorship election coming in 2024.
His words “If I am not contesting this election, then my support to anybody is based on your credentials because I am an academic person. If people are doubting your ordinary school certificate, it would be difficult for me to support you.
“We are talking about the development of the state at this time around because things are bad. People get degrees but they don’t have jobs, they are just roaming about the streets.
“I need to use my nine degrees, my brain to help Ondo state, I think this is time I have to sort out human problems in this state. I am declaring my intention to run for the governorship election of Ondo State, among the contestants, I am the oldest of them, I have contested election twice in my lifetime, one of which I contested for governorship position with (Chief Adebayo) Adefarati in 2003, and none of these contestants was on that ballot.
“Beyond that, I contested for Senate, I won the six Local Government Area, and APC has never won the election for Senate not until I contested. We have a strategy that we call; ‘Aseyori, breakthrough’, we used this strategy to run the primaries for the senatorial election and clocked 193 votes out of 300, over 70 percent of the votes.
“I won very convincingly, so the second time I had been contesting now with this one, the governorship, the last election I was just an aspirant trying to run under the PDP but the Jegede got the ticket. But I am here again to contest for the governorship election.”
On his programme for the people of the State, if elected, Ibrahim said he would create moral efficiency and moral knowledge and make the body more efficient
On security, he said “We must also map Ondo state borders for security networks and then to ensure that we will never have any cases of kidnapping, by making Amotekun a classic unique security outfit that will come with a good strategy to challenge any security issues in our state.
“So one of the areas we are looking at is to ensure that everybody in Ondo state can go to sleep with their eyes closed and that is topmost of our priority. Mapping every system, the tactical operations of Amotekun have to become more distinct into technology, I want an Amotekun that is IT informed because I have PhD in War,” the Senator said.
