5th FOWOSO Grand Finale: “We are doing our best to kick out poverty from the face of women” – Mrs. Akeredolu
The wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has said the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is determined to kick out poverty from the faces of women in the state.
Mrs. Akeredolu stated this at the grand finale of the 5th Foundation For Wives Of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO) Summit held in Akure.
Mrs. Akeredolu who said she will not relent in helping women and girl- child further explained that all her projects had opened ways for girls and women in the state to become self-reliant.
Aside FOWOSO, she identified some other formidable initiatives like BRECAN which has been saving lives of women from needless death of cancer and also BEMORE.
“Over 3,000 of our daughters have been empowered through BEMORE summer bootcamp being one of our projects too, and they are now grown women and very ascertained for wealth.
‘So, we are doing our best in this administration to kick out poverty from the face of the women in the state,” she said.
While also appreciating all those who have been supporting her projects, Mrs. Akeredolu noted that the government would not relent in its efforts to support women in the state.
She also charged women and the girl child not to be discouraged and see themselves as second fiddle, but rather a positive game changer which would not be pushed aside in all areas of their endeavor.
The climax of the event is the annual march pass by women across the different local government areas as well as raffle draw.
Ayedun Abolaji, an 87 year-old woman from Isua Local Government Area of the state, won a bag of rice as best dancer, while five others won 10kg of rice, table gas; dryers; sewing machines; television sets; and grinding machines respectively.
Other winners at the grand event include went home with generating set, refrigerator and deep freezer.
All Progressive Congress chieftains, Hon. (Princess) Omowunmi Ohwovoriole, and Akure born philanthropist, Dr. Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu were also in attendance among others.
