The South West Advancement group on Sunday recognised celebrated lawyer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Adewole Adebayo, as an awardee as it rolls out drums to celebrate the 2021 edition of its awards ceremony.
The event, which took place at the Oriental Hotels Victoria Island Lagos State Nigeria, was created to showcase, appreciate, and motivate achievers whose ideas, works, causes, and activities have helped in the growth sustenance, and development of the South West.
Adebayo, who is the President of KAFTAN TV, made the final list of the honorary award nominees for the prestigious “Personality Of The Year” award as released by the organisers, and carted away the Lifetime Achievement Award, beating other people nominated in that category.
The group acknowledged that the veteran journalist’s contribution to the upliftment of humanity, youth empowerment, and support for national development in the country are some of the qualities that stood him out to win the award. He is also seen as an uncommon achiever, change maker, influential and an inspiring leader.
The South West Advancement award is a non-competitive, honorary award given to deserving individuals and statesmen that the South West Advancement group emulate their leadership qualities and serve as role models to the budding generation.
While congratulating the awardees, the Convener of the South West Advancement group, Desmond Femi Agboola, said the group came up with the idea to recognise the south west indigenes who are doing well in their various careers.
“We’ve not been having different awards to celebrate our sons and daughters both in the country and in the diaspora. This is the opportunity to appreciate those that have been doing well in the south”, he said.
He stated that it would be an annual event and it would be spread within the six states in the South West region.
Receiving the award on behalf of Barrister Adebayo, KAFTAN TV Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Alani Silas, thanked the organisers and commended them for the good gesture.
“Mr. Adewole Adebayo would have been here personally to receive this award, but had to travel for an urgent business assignment. He has asked me to represent him here today. This award will spur him to do more for the love of the South West in particular, and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
Born Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo on January 8, 1972 to the royal family in Ondo, Barrister Adebayo as he is known in the legal circle, and Wole, in the social stage, is by every standard a man who is diligent in his business. And it is no wonder that he has not only stood before kings, he had and continues to dine with kings.
By every standard a rare breed, Wole is many things in one; lawyer, economist, journalist/publisher, businessman, philanthropist, actor, politician and motivational speaker. Among all these, he considers himself simply as a lawyer, and even with a retinue of seasoned legal luminaries in his employment still ventures into the legal field to scoop exclusives. Those who have referred to him as a workaholic are not far from the truth.
In March 2021, he was recognised by the Ondo State Government as the indigene who pays the highest personal income tax to the Ondo State Government.

Hon Femi Gbajabiala- Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Mr Taiwo Afolabi – Chairman SIFAX Group, Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo – Chairman House Committee on NDDC, Mr Segun Awolowo- Executive Director Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Sen.
