Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore Bags Southwest Herald Excellence Award
In recognition of his exceptional service to humanity, the State Commissioner for Lands & Housing, Akogun Akinwunmi Sowore on Sunday, 7th July, 2024 bagged Southwest Herald Magazine’s Excellence Service Award.
He was honoured alongside other eminent Nigerians at the 2024 Public Lecture & Award ceremony held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Responding shortly after being conferred with the honour, Akogun Sowore appreciated the media outfit for deeming it fit to honour him just as he affirmed that the award will spur him to do more for humanity.
Akogun Sowore who further assured that he will continue in the path of excellent service which has remained the hallmark of his public service over the years, also restated the commitment of Ondo State Governor to ensuring affordable home ownership for the people of the state.
Giving his remarks at the grand event, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. (Barr.) Olumuyiwa Adu extended congratulations to all the awardees.
He also commended the media outfit for being the voice to the voiceless and the bridge between the government and the governed.
Particularly, he underscored the need for restructuring as a panacea to attaining good governance in the country at large.
The event also featured a guest lecture by Dr. Olugbenga Abimbola, Head of Department, Mass Communication, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko on “Ondo 2024: Preparation & Priorities for Electoral Integrity & Inclusion”.
Dr. Abimbola in his lecture took time to address all stakeholders while restating the need for the electoral processes to pass integrity test and be all inclusive among others.
The climax of the event however is the official unveiling of the special edition of the magazine as well as the presentation of awards to recipients.
Earlier in his address, the Publisher of Southwest Herald Magazine, Mr. Tayo Adu while welcoming guests said the event is yet another opportunity to address key issues and as well honour outstanding personalities who have in no small measure contributed to the development of the state.
