The Federal Government have been advised to support the South West Governors formation of the regional security outfit Amotekun to avoid being viewed as partial.
The Grand Imam of Akure Sheikh Dr AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede gave the advice during his weekly Jum’at Sermon in Akure.
He said since there are similar security organizations in some states across the Northern States like Kano and Katsina (Ishbar) Nasarwa and Plateau (Operation Rainbow) Yobe and Borno ( Civilian JTF), he queried why the Attorney General of the Federation, Malami, should declared Amotekun as an Illegal body.
The Cleric said, the formation of the security organ is long over considering the hardship being faced by the people of the region in the hands of Fulani herdsmen such as kidnapping and killings of the people at will.
Akorede praised the boldness of Governor Akeredolu and applauded the leadership of Governor Kayode Fayemi and their Colleagues for the formation of Amotekun, he called on each of the six States houses of Assembly to quickly pass a motion on Amotekun and make the outfit a legal entity in their respective states.
“Malami should know we are also Nigerians and we deserve to be protected and if not defend our selves according to the Sunah of Holy Prophet Muhammed (saw)”, he added.
The Grand Imam called on all Muslims to respect the leadership and laws of their host communities as well.
