The Social Democratic Party, SDP yesterday held its primaries ahead of the local government elections in Ondo State at the end of which candidates emerged across the 18 local government areas of the state for councillorship and local government chairman positions.
The state chairman of the party, Chief Korede Duyile in his address said a total of 68 candidates emerged as councilors while 9 candidates emerged across 9 local government areas of the state.
While applauding the process that produced the candidates from the different wards across the local government, Chief Duyile said the party has put machineries in place in order to win positions during the local government elections.
One of the candidates who won the chairmanship position in Idanre, Mr Akinselure Bankole commended party members for displaying high level of good conduct during the primaries while also urging ODIEC to be transparent and take a cue from the party as it was able to conduct a free and credible primary election in Idanre.
Mr. Bankole also used the opportunity to enjoin members of the party to shun violence during the forthcoming election.
