Akeredolu’s Aide, Chief Olamide Falana Bags Integrity Stewardship Ambassadorial Award

The Senior Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Gender, Chief (Mrs) Olamide Falana has been presented with a certificate of Integrity Stewardship and Service Ambassador by Centre For Peace and Self Values Re-Orientation in recognition of her efforts against Gender Based Violence (GBV) and other programmes aiming at protecting women in the State.

While presenting the award to her in her office at Alagbaka, Akure, the Executive Director of the Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Comr Abubakar Oyinbo, described her as a woman who has passion for other women to succeed and urged her to continue the good work until women are giving their pride of place in the society.

In response, Mrs Falana thanked the organization for deeming her fit for the award and added that such honour would spur her to do more for women in the State.

On the success recorded in the fight against GBV in the State, Mrs Falana thanked the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and his Wife Mrs Betty Akeredolu for prioritising the interest of women in the State which she attributed to the success recorded in the fight against GBV in the State.

Her words: “We have recorded success in the fight against GBV in the State because the present administration in the prioritise the interest of women. Remember that Governor Akeredolu sign GBV act into law which make it an offence for any woman in the State to suffer any form of domestic violence. Aside this, we also seek for ways to improve women in the State in form of empowerment, a testament to this is the just concluded 5th FOWOSO Submit where the First Lady of the State empowered women with different gifts in cash and kind. Women have never had it this good in the State as good number of them are now occupying various positions across the State.

“Women can do better if given the opportunity. That is why we are saying no to gender disparity. If we can have equality in all sphere of life, it will go a long way to curb gender violence. We have been telling women facing any form of marital maltreatment to speak out, press for charges so that justice can be served. The idea that I leave it to God should not be. We should all come together to nip the barbaric act of GBV in the bud. I will not relent until the campaign against GBV gets to every woman including those in the interiors,” she said.
