Easter: Ondo NUJ urges ODSG to checkmate alleged misconduct at borders … pleads for timely distribution of palliative items to the poor

The Executives and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council hereby felicitate with all media professionals and the people of the state especially Christian brothers and sisters on the occasion of this year’s Easter Celebration.

In an Easter Message signed by the NUJ Chairman, Adetona Aderoboye and the State Secretary, Leke Adegbite, the Union encourages Christians to always emulate Jesus Christ’s virtues of sacrifice, steadfastness and uplifting the less privileged as they celebrate at this trying period of COVID-19.

We appeal to the Ondo state government to be more proactive in checkmating the spread of COVID-19 particularly inter states movement and alleged misconducts at Ondo state borders; as well as ensuring timely distribution of palliative items to the vulnerable people in the state, even as the state records second case of coronavirus.

Ondo NUJ commends journalists, medical workers and other stakeholders who have been in the forefront of enlightening and disseminating awareness messages to the public that have helped Ondo state government to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

The Union notes that since this year’s Easter is being celebrated amidst ravaging coronavirus pandemic, there is a need for government and wealthy individuals in the Sunshine state to show more love and concern in tackling the plight of suffering citizenry.

It enjoins christians to put their faith in God and pray fervently to enable our land to overcome one of the most challenging periods in human history, urging journalists to stay safe in the coverage and reportage of COVID-19.

The union wishes hitch-free and Happy Easter.
