Following insinuations that the Igbos are the beneficiaries of all economic gains of the present administration in Ondo State led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Eze Ndigbo, Ondo State, Sir Gregory Iloehika has dispelled the rumour saying it was rather an unfortunate situation for Igbo residents in the state as they have not in any way benefitted from the good gestures of the present government.
Speaking with journalists in his Akure office, Sir Iloehika lauded the Akeredolu led government for doing well in many areas saying its monumental achievements without doubt is visible for all to see in the area of infrastructural development, health care delivery, payment of backlog of salaries among others.
According to him, Governor Akeredolu is a talk and do Governor who has done very well for the people and deserves the support of the people.
On the common saying on the streets that Igbos have remained a major beneficiary of this government, Sir Iloehika affirmed those benefitting from such gestures are not his subjects and not residents of the state.
“If you find any Igbo man executing any contract here in the state, he or she bought it. As far as I am concerned, no Igbo man resident in Ondo State benefited from this government. Any Igbo man you see doing contract, bought the contract”, he restated just as he expressed Igbo community’s readiness to support the sitting Governor.
“As a leader of my community, we will support the Governor in all that we can do. If any politician come here for my blessing, I owe it to them to welcome and honour them too. During the era of Governor Mimiko, he gave us N20million loan and during our festivities, the Governor will support us with like 100 bags of rice along with other items. The land we purchased for the community, Governor Mimiko contributed a lot to building of that structure to the point where it is” he restated just as he affirmed that the present government knows what it ought to do for the community even without asking.
