Ondo PSN Tackles Group Over Uncensored Outburst On Pharm. Aladenola
The Ondo State Chapter of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has said it would not take kindly to uncensored outburst against one of its own, Pharm. Mrs. Foluke Aladenola, a Merit Award Winner of Pharmacy noble profession and a 9th star professional by an alleged self acclaimed group, the Ondo Indigenous Healthcare Forum over her appointment.
In a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman and Secretary of Ondo PSN, Pharm. Akindeko Robinson- Eniola and Pharm. Victor Adebayo and made public, the group noted that the position of a Permanent Secretary is an administrative one and the appointment is at the discretion of Mr. Governor who can appoint a senior civil servant he deems fit to deliver on set goals.
According to the press statement, in civilized clime, hospital administration is a profession not exclusive to any group of the healthcare profession and as such, any display of political will to correct anomalies of the past in line with global best practises and doctrines of meritocracy should be commmended by all.
While noting that it is equally on good record that Pharmacists have been appointed as Commissioners of Health in States like Kano, Osun, Ogun and Edo among others and that nurses have occupied same office in Kwara and others state even to the federal level as Ministers of Health, Ondo PSN further stressed that even in Ekiti State which the writer ignorantly cited, the current PS, Ministry of Health, is an Administrative Officer.
“Suffice it to say that Pharmacist, trained as top level managers have been equally adjudged as the most accessible highly trained health worker and a principal bridge in the healthcare value chain”, the statement further stressed saying Pharmacist are an indispensable link in the chain of National Health Protection.
Ondo PSN while also congratulating Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on his first 100 days in office said his administration has recorded giant strides in spite of very lean resources just as it assured the Governor of their unalloyed support for the success of his administration.
Ondo PSN also used the opportunity to caution the group; the Ondo Indigenous Healthcare Forum and its collaborators to take caution as nobody has monopoly of wisdom or blackmail as pharmacy is a noble profession.
