Business owners operating at Onyearugbulem under the umbrella body, Onyearugbulem Industrial Park Association, Akure has applauded Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his recent pronouncement to herdsmen to vacate the state’s forest reserve as well end night grazing in the state saying it is a welcome development and one that needs to be supported into fruition.

In a chat with topshotnews, the Park’s Chairman, Comrade George Bamidele Omoode said the decision is a good move towards ensuring safety of lives and properties across the state as the Governor owes the citizenry the primary responsibility to secure their lives having sworn an oath to that effect.

Comrade Bamidele who urged the state government not to reverse the order said the body language of the federal government over the years has left no one in doubt of its un-seriousness in curbing the rising trends of insecurity across the country.

“Its over 10 years the federal government promised to bring Boko Haram to book and that is yet to be actualized. So, if the federal government cannot do the needful, every state governor owes its citizenry the duty to protect their lives”, he added saying the reaction of the federal government is suspicious and leaves nothing to be desired.

While urging Governor Akeredolu not to fold his hands in the face of rising insecurity in the state said it is quite unfortunate that the territorial rights of the people have been invaded without question for too long. “What are they doing in our forest reserve illegally, if not to commit atrocities. So, I urge Mr. Governor not to reverse the executive order. These bandits kidnap our people for ransom rape our women and kill our farmers”, he further stressed.

Comrade Bamidele however assured Mr. Governor that the people are solidly behind him saying if the move is going to be tantamount to war, the people are ready just as he urged

Also speaking the Vice Chairman of the park, Alhaji Hamis Feyibunmi Balogun applauded Governor Akeredolu saying the decision is timely and that it was high time other leaders set aside politics and do the needful to protect their people.

Alhaji Balogun while expressing sadness at the turn of event in the state where citizens most especially those from Akoko axis can no longer go home at will to take care of their parents without nursing the fear of imminent kidnap along the road, said Governor Akeredolu must not give in to pressure to set aside the order.

“The kind of Fulani we grew up to know were those who were friendly and not these new breed that go about terrorizing the people with guns. This onslaught is not new to President Buhari. In the 80s, we had the Metaseni who were more deadly but Buhari as a Commander chased them out to Niger and that was the crux between him and Shagari. So, I believe it is high time, we do the needful”, he further stressed just as he urged the leadership of Amotekun Corps in the state to rise up to the occasion and ensure safety of lives and properties.
