OSOPADEC Project: Akeredolu Commissions Construction Of 45.61Km Water/Pipe Laying @ Igbokoda…Flags Off Alape Garden City

In line with its mandate to develop the riverine areas of the state, the Ondo State Oil Development Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) yesterday commissioned the construction of 45.61Km Water Rising Mains/Pipe Laying along Igbokoda- Ugbonla Road just as it flagged off the Alape Garden City at Ipare in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

At the commissioning ceremony performed by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and witnessed by large turn out of residence of the area, political appointees among others, the Governor thanked God for the successful completion of the project saying the people of the area can now heave a sigh of relief as they begin to access portable water in the locality.

In his address, the chairman of OSOPADEC, Hon. Gbenga Edema noted that the 1st phase of the contract which involved the construction of raw water intake and water treatment facility at Aboto at a sum of One Billion, Nine Hundred and Seventy Million, Nine Hundred & Twenty Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy Naira, Seven kobo, has already been delivered at the twilight of the last administration and that the construction of the 45.61 water mains which is the second phase in the water scheme project.

While noting that before this initiative, there had been several attempts by past government and other agencies like the Benin- Owena River Basin Development Authority, Niger Delta Development Commission among others to provide portable water for the people which had yielded no result, Hon. Edema lauded the Arakunrin led government saying the gesture will go a long way in bringing succour to over 80% of the population who had over the years liver without access to portable water.

“After the commissioning of this phase I, the next phase is the design for the execution of the phase II – which is, Ugbonla – Ayetoro and Phase III, which is Alape Juction- Araromi seaside”, he further stressed.

Another major highlight of the event was the ground breaking ceremony of Alape Garden City in Ipare, Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo State also by the Governor.

Alape Garden City which sits on a whooping 6.83.744 hectares when completed will be inhabited by an estimated 4,000 people in addition to provision of worship centres, shopping mall, recreational facility among others.
