ROTDOW In Partnership With Vitamin Angels Train Community Development Distributors On Delivery Of Vitamin A Supplement
Restoration Of The Dignity Of Womanhood, ROTDOW, a Non Governmental Organization in partnership with Vitamin Angels on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th May organized a two day training for Community Development Distributors on proper delivery of Vitamin A supplement services in rural communities.
At the training held at HANDEF Hall, Akure, and well attended by Community Development Distributors made up of volunteers among members of National Council of Women Societies, (NCWS), Federation Of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, FOMWAN, Non Governmental Organizations, Community Development Officers both in government parastatal and private organizations among others across the state, the CEO, ROTDOW, Mrs. Olabisi Omolona said the essence of the training was to ensure that all volunteer health workers are properly tutored on delivery of Vitamin A and Deworming drugs as part efforts to avoid child to child infection.
Mrs. Omolona who said government cannot do it alone said with the efforts of community development distributors, the hope of attaining a more healthy society is possible as those who had undergone training can now be of assistance in rural communities in administering Vitamin A supplements and Deworming to children

During her presentation, Mrs Omolona explored the benefits of administering Vitamin A saying it is a safe drug that goes a long way in reducing children mortality while supplementing their Vitamin A deficiencies.
While also applauding Ondo State based Community Volunteers for touching every nook and crannies of the state in the just concluded free distribution of Multivitamins to pregnant women supplied by ROTDOW in partnership with Vitamin Angels, Mrs. Omolona enjoined them to continue the good work stressing that the secret of success in life lies in service to humanity.
Another major highlight was a presentation done by Ms. Adeyemi Adedoyin on proper hand washing before and after administration of the drugs.
Ms. Adeyemi who also used the opportunity to enjoin community development distributors not to use hand gloves when administering the drugs further urged them to minimize the risk of child to child infection by appropriately handling waste after administration as studies have shown that Vitamin A drug is safe with rare cases of side effect.
Some of the benefits as highlighted include the fact that administration of Vitamin A and Deworming drugs together promotes eyesight, prevents anemia, reduces infection for better growth among others.
The Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mrs Obaloyo in her good will message applauded ROTDOW and Vitamin Angels for their continued partnership with the government towards raising healthy mothers and children most especially in the society.
The highpoint of the event however was the review of the checklist that guides all Community Development Distributors in the delivery of Vitamin A supplement services as handled by Mrs. Tomiwa Adeshina, the representative of Vitamin Angels.
Mr. Gboyega Olaleye later took the participants through a one-on-one session of what is expected of them just as the participants also went through respective practical session.
In her remarks, the State President of NCWS, Ondo State chapter, Pastor Mrs. Jumoke Aborode lauded ROTDOW and Vitamin Angels for coming up with the initiative saying it will go a long way in reaching the unreached populace scattered in the rural areas across the state.
The training also featured a one-on-one practical session after which certificates were issued to the participants.
