Sir Ezeorji Umewenke, 12 Others Bag Catholic Laity Council Of Nigeria Ambassador Of Christ Awards

The Group Managing Director of Unitus Group of Companies, Sir Dr. Ezeorji Umewenke alongside 12 other parishioners across Ondo Catholic Diocese were today honoured with Ambassador Of Christ Awards in recognition of their dogged commitment to the work of God and their selfless service to humanity.

At the event well attended by Catholic faithfuls, friends, relatives and well-wishers of the awardees at the Catholic Church Cathedral, in Akure, the Bishop of Ondo Catholic Diocese, Rt. Revd. Jude Arogundade in his sermon while officiating the mass that preceded the grand reception charged parishioners to continue to do good as people are watching their footsteps.

Bishop Arogundade who said it was indeed a great joy to be in the midst of the people to honour those who have selflessly contributed to the development of God’s work in the Diocese, urged others to take a cue from them and be good ambassadors of Christ wherever they find themselves.

The President of Catholic Laity Council Of Nigeria, Ondo Diocese, Prof. Helen Ogunsuyi said those who were honoured were carefully nominated across the Diocese and that it was in recognition of the services they had rendered selflessly to the church.

While also charging other faithfuls to be passionate about God’s work, Prof. Ogunsuyi said the award is the reward for the good work done in service to the church.

In his remarks shortly after been awarded this highest honour from the non clergy arm of the Catholic Church, Sir Umewenke, a parishioner at the Mary Queen of Angel Catholic Church, Akure said he was very happy to be honoured as it will spur him to do more.

Sir Umewenke while appreciating the Catholic Laity Council Of Nigeria for deeming it fit to honour parishioners across the Diocese, said an award in service to God is the highest any man can desire.

Other Catholic faithfuls honoured across Ondo Diocese include Mr. Francis Adewole, Mrs. Oriola Victoria, Mr. Olanrewaju Emmanuel, Sir Niyi James Akinruwe and Chief Mrs Elizabeth Adegbuyi, the Iya Ewe of Cathedral.

Others are Dr. Oluremi Falewa, Hon. Kayode Adara, Mrs. Adewumi Abiola and Mr.Julius Olusola Adegboyejo also from Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church among others.

In separate interviews, the awardees expressed gratitude to the organizers saying it was indeed an honour that will spur them to do more.

In a chat with journalists, Rev. Father Jude Adewumi expressed joy at the honour done to some of the parishioners while also enjoining others to take a cue from them and contribute their own quota to the development of the church.
