WOWICAN Holds 7th Annual Convention, Award Giving Day

The Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th May, 2021 held its 7th Annual Convention with the theme: “Christian In The Valley Of Sin” — Gen. 12:8—20.

At the two—day event held at St. Davids Ijomu, Akure and which had participants from across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, the State Chairperson, WOWICAN, Deaconess Grace Ademokoya while welcoming members across the state thanked God most especially for making the day a reality saying the theme was no doubt fitting and reflective of the perilous times.

Mrs. Ademokoya who said the faith of many Christians have gone old and dead, urged them to prayerfully hold tightly to their faith in Jesus Christ.

In his talk centered on Gender Equality, Bar. Adedotun Adegoroye explored the concept of gender inequality within the social cultural setting of Africans most especially Nigerian saying God Himself demands that women be treated right drawing from Gal. 3:38.

According to him, common sense, the law and as well the need to have a peaceful society demand that women are treated fairly and equally and as such, mothers most especially must train up their sons as responsible husbands.

Bar. Adegoroye while also urging the government to explore women as a veritable human resource as the country over the years has failed to exploit their capacity also enjoined parents to equip their daughters to fill up workforce and relevant political appointment in order to influence decisions that directly affects them.

The event also featured award presentation to Apostle Dr. Julius Bamidele, Pastor Mrs. Mojisola Caroline Abolade, Amb. Owolanke Funke Felicia, Amb. Mrs. Mary Modupe Adubiaro, Gen. Rev. Apostlic Mother Akinyemiju Morantiola and Mother Cherubim General Dorccas Adejoke Abioye.

The D-Day event had earlier featured a Novelty Match between WOWICAN and YOWICAN at St. Davids Primary School, Akure where WOWICAN won the game with a 2.0 scores. The event also featured prominently a Match Pass from members of WOWICAN across the different local government areas of the state.

In their separate remarks, the awardees while thanking God for the honour applauded the organizers for deeming it fit to honour them with various categories of awards.

Also in attendance at the epoch making event were top church leaders, special guests among others.
