ZLP Denies Purported Alliance Between Agboola, Jegede…Says The Only Alliance Is With The People Of Ondo State

The Zenith Labour Party ( ZLP) in Ondo State has denied an alleged alliance between its candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi and the candidate of People Democratic Party(PDP), Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN.

In a statement made public and signed by Mr. Babatope Okeowo, Chief Press Secretar to HE Agboola Ajayi, it condemned in strong terms a publication said to have been planted by the information machinery of the the government to discourage the teeming supporters of the Deputy Governor.
The statement further observed that the said publication was coming barely 24 hours after the the Deputy Governor was denied the use of government facility for the launch of his campaign.
“Let it be known to the members of the public that there is no romance between the candidate of ZLP and that of PDP after the governorship primary that produced Eyitayo Jegede as the candidate of PDP. There was no offer and rejection of running mate from the PDP leadership or Jegede to Ajayi as insinuated by the fake publication.

The said publication has failed to prove any nexus between the two candidates and tried unsuccessfully also to impugn the character of the Deputy Governor.

We say emphatically that the Deputy Governor is winning the forthcoming governorship election slated for October 10, and he is willing to welcome candidates or other political parties who may wish to support his aspiration to rescue the state from the misrule of Akeredolu’s government”, it adds.
In a related development,Felix Olatunde, the Publicity Secretary to ZLP said the party is not and will not be contemplating any alliance with the PDP candidate as reported in the front page of The Nation Newspaper of Wednesday 16th of September, 2020.

The party in a statement, said it wishes to let the general public and indeed its teeming members and ever expanding sympathisers know that “it has not, is not and will not contemplate any alliance or collaboration with the PDP in the October 10, 2020 governorship election” saying the “blatant lie reported by The Nation could at best be a product of the fertile imagination of the author and or his undisclosed source or sources,” Olatunde further restates.

“The only alliance we have is with the people of Ondo State to oust Mr Oluwarotime Akeredolu and the APC from the Government House, Alagbaka, and for this purpose will welcome those who are interested in joining our party in that direction”.
